THE WELL DISPUTE

November 11, 2018 0 Comments

Once there was a complaint at Emperor Akbar's court. There were two neighbours who shared a garden had a dispute. This garden had a well which was owned by Iqbal khan. His neighbour, the farmer, bought the well from Iqbal a few months ago. In spite of having sold the well, Iqbal continued to fetch water from the well. So, the farmer requested the emperor to give him justice.

"Why do you continue to draw water from the well Iqbal?" inquired the Emperor Akbar.

"Well my lord, I have sold the well to the farmer but not the water inside it!"
Puzzled by the situation, the emperor asked the Birbal to find a solution.

Birbal came forward and asked, "Iqbal you said that you had sold only the well, and the water inside is still yours, then how can you keep your water inside another person's well without paying a rent for it?"

Iqbal's trickery found its match. The farmer got his justice and Birbal his reward.

MORAL - Don’t Try to Cheat. You will end up paying for it regardless of how smart you think you are.

This might also cause people to distrust you. So always keep in mind honesty and loyalty makes a man more successful than any other in the world.

WISE CRACKS
- Always read and understand the terms and conditions every time while dealing and
   trading.
- It is better to ask than to cheat anyone.

THE DONKEY'S COMMON SENSE

One day a farmer lost his donkey. While Searching for the donkey he heard loud cries from a well. He looked down the well and found his old donkey crying.

He thought the old donkey must have received a lot of injuries. So he thought its better to bury the Donkey in the well and close the well to prevent any future calamities. So the farmer called his neighbors for help and they all started throwing mud inside the well.

Initially one could hear the loud cries coming from the well but slowly the cries stopped. After some time they looked down the well. To their amazement the donkey was still very much alive.

As the farmers were throwing mud into well, the donkey was shaking the mud from its back and was taking one step up. This way the donkey was gaining height in the well and was coming closer to the edge of the well and soon it was out of the well.

MORAL - NEVER GIVE UP
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LIFE'S LESSON
From time to time...All challenges in our life are like mud which life throws at us. Try to shake it off as much as possible. Recognize each of our struggles makes us stronger and is a stepping stone toward resolution.

And most importantly, recognize God is always with us in every situation. Even sitting in the bottom of a dark, cold, lonely well – He will never leave you. He’s been there before and He knows the way out! Praise God 🙂

WISE CRACKS
- All challenges in life are opportunities to rise higher.
- We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up.
- What happens to you in life isn't nearly as important as how you react to it.

 QUOTABLE NUGGETS
"Never give up. Today is hard, tomorrow will be worse, but the day after tomorrow will be sunshine."  ~ Phillip Sweet

"If you really believe in what you're doing, work hard, take nothing personally and if something blocks one route, find another. Never give up. ~ Laurie Notaro

THE PRODIGY

Tenali Raman was a great devotee of goddess Kalika, bestowed with immense wit and intelligence. When he was a boy and lived in Tumuluru near Tenali, his neighbor Rajmouli once took him to the house of a well-off landlord named Nagendra Rao.

"This boy is Tenali Raman. He is genius," Rajmouli told Nagendra, "I've never seen a brighter boy then Raman. He has an answer for everything!" Rajmouli continues to tell Nagendra.

Nagendra was an arrogant and snobbish man full of pride who thought himself to be the only intelligent person in the whole empire. He was not at all pleased to hear Raman's praise from Rajmouli.

"He doesn't look very intelligent," Nagendra said glancing at Raman. "In any case the more clever the boy is, the more duller is becomes as a man!"

"Is that true?" asked Raman, with an air of innocence. "Then, sir, as a boy you must have been even more intelligent than I am!"

Nagendra stood awestruck and defeated at Raman's quick and witty reply.

MORAL - NEVER UNDERESTIMATE A CHILD'S ABILITY TO GET INTO MORE TROUBLE.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LIFE'S LESSON
"The truly great are generally humble. They know how little they know. However as Josh Billings says, 'Most men are like eggs, too full of themselves to hold anything else.' Pride goes before downfall."

WISE CRACKS
- Pride is the general root of all harm.

- All the passions do occasional good, but whenever pride puts in its work, everything goes wrong.

- Man can get better only if he guards himself against pride, otherwise he has to face ridicule and insult.

 QUOTABLE NUGGETS
"Pride, like the magnet constantly points to one object, SELF, but unlike the magnet it has no attractive pole, but at all points repels."  ~ C. Colton

THE GIFT OF INSULTS

November 07, 2018 , , , 0 Comments

A retired Samurai warrior used to teach Zen buddhism to young men. Despite his age, the legend was that he could defeat any adversary.

One day a young immoral warrior challenged the old master. He was infamous for provoking his opponents by insulting them. The old master accepted the challenge.

In town square, the young warrior began cursing the old warrior. He threw rocks, hurled abuses, spat in his face and insulted the old man in every possible way. For hours he did everything to provoke the old master, but the old master remained calm. A few hours later, exhausted and dejected, the young warrior left.

The master's students gathered around him and asked, "How could you bear such disgrace? Why didn't you attack and kill him instead of behaving in a cowardly manner?"

The master smiled, "If someone comes to you with a gift, and you do not accept it, to whom does the gift belong to then?" asked the Samurai.

"To the one who tried to give it" replied one disciple.

Master smiled and said, "Here is you answer."

MORAL - DO NOT LET THE CHAOS ON THE OUTSIDE DISTURB THE CALM ON THE INSIDE.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LIFE'S LESSON
"In our life the same applies to envy, anger and insults. When they are not accepted, they continue to belong to the one who brought them."
The story also illustrates the universal truth that "Whatever you give is what you receive" or "Whatever goes around, Comes around."

WISE CRACKS
- An insult is like a glass of wine. It only affects you if you accept it.
- Be calm.
- To win without violence is the greatest victory.
- Reacting to insulting behavior only serves to give the insulting party exactly what they want.

"Nonviolence is the virtue of the manly. The coward is innocent of it."  ~ Mahatma Gandhi

PEACHES FOR RAMA

Peaches For Raman
The Emperor of China had sent some peaches to the king of Tondmandalam with a note stating that the fruit gave long life to anyone who ate them. As the fruits were being shown to the ruler, Raman, giving in to temptation, picked up one of the luscious peaches and bit into it.

The king was enraged. "You've bitten into a fruit meant for me!" He thundered. "For this you must die!" As Raman was being taken away by the royal guards, he sighed dramatically and exclaimed: "What a cheat the Emperor of China is. He says the fruit gives long life. I took just one bite and I'm about to die. Oh, what a fate awaits the one who eats an entire fruit!"

The king laughed and was greatly amused by Raman's wit. He not only pardoned him but also gave him a dozen of the peaches he had risked his life for.

MORAL - PRESENCE OF MIND
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LIFE'S LESSON
" Do not rush where angels fear to tread. To react spontaneously and without thinking displays an impetuous temperament. Wait, think, act - a good motto for anyone in life. "

WISE CRACKS
- Temptation or Lure is irresistible force which can land us in trouble.
- It is better to get rid of temptation.
- It is better to shun the bait than to repent and struggle in the trap.

QUOTABLE NUGGET
"Take away the motive and you take away the sin."  ~ Don Quixote
